France: Islamization in prison

The 'beards' are active behind bars. According to a confidential (confidential defense) report of the French prison administration (AP) seen by Le Figaro, at least 442 Islamists imprisoned in France exhibit worrying behavior. Among them, 78 arrested for acts of terrorism and six Islamo-thieves convicted for their logistical support networks.

Agents of the prison intelligence service also identified 147 prisoners who are involved in "operational activities of proselytizing". In short: a new generation fanning the flames of Jihad.

These clandestine religious men are radicalized by surfing the Internet, says one senior source of the AP. Far from being experts of the Koran, they distill passages of the suras which can reference violence and use medieval speech to convert their fellow cell-mates.

Their target? At least 211 prisoners are "in the process of radical Islamization," according to the report. It's more than 80% of the French of North African origin. Their low cultural level makes them receptive to the talk about destroying the West. Among the recruits there are also about 10% of young people with higher education, according to an expert.

An anti-terrorism magistrate says that many of their files there are now France born converts, for the most part, in prison. He says that it's a real concern. If the radical elements are put in the same area, they eventually conspire. And if they are spread out, they infect the other prisoners. The technique consists of moving them regularly to prevent links from consolidating, explains researcher Farhad Khosrokhavar, author of 'L'Islam dans les prisons' (Islam in the prisons)

Concerned about improving the detection of at risk individuals, the Interior Minister, Michèle Alliot-Marie, will present on Sept. 30th at the national security college (Institut national des hautes études de sécurité, Inhes) a 60 page handbook on "fundamentalism in prison". This guide will be given to the 24,000 guards in French prisons, police and anti-terrorism magistrates.

An interior ministry official says that for the first time the Algerian security service were involved in the effort. The document dissects the process of radicalization step by step. It stresses the weight of origins, of the city, school dropouts and the marginalization of certain populations, which justifies their root community and their hate for Western democratic values, says an official at the unit for coordinating the anti-terrorism efforts (Unité de coordination de lutte antiterroriste, UCLAT)

Then it draws up a list of 23 indicators to identify deviant conduct: besides ostentatious display of logos referencing al-Qaida of the Islamic Maghreb or a picture of Bin Laden on the cell walls, it includes reading certain religious works, refusing to walk with other prisoners, starting to eat together or wanting to ensure that their hours of prayers are scrupulously observed.

An official from the interior ministry says that they want to put an end to the continuous challenges that those prisoners pose to the prison authority and to replace Sharia with the prison regulations.

A 20 page appendix includes the logos, symbols and signs of belonging to the al-Qaida movement. The aim is to reveal the outlines and practices so as to better combat it.

Sociologist Farhad Khosrokhavar says that this initiative at the least has the merit of raising public and personnel awareness, but the lack of Muslim chaplains in prisons encourages the emergence of this hidden and belligerent Islam. While half the prisoners are Muslims, he says, only 100 imams work in French prisons compared with 600 Christian chaplains. Islam remains, in the mind of many detainees, the 'religion of the oppressed'.

CR: Anti-Islamism protest

Supporters of the Czech far right National Party will stage a protest against Islamism outside the Brno mosque on Wednesday, the party has informed on its website.
The Libertas Independent Agency associating Brno Muslims and friends of Muslim nations has expressed its protest against the planned event in a statement CTK has obtained.

The demonstration is to start before noon.
"We are naturally monitoring the situation and collecting all important information concerning it," south Moravian police spokeswoman Jan Sipkova told CTK Monday.
The demonstration is to be a reaction to the death of Czech ambassador to Pakistan Ivo Zdarek who died on Saturday in the ruins of the Marriott Hotel in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad that became the target of a terrorist attack, along with another 52 people.

Shortly after Zdarek's death, the Brno Muslims expressed condolence to his family. In the past, they always distanced themselves from Islamist terrorist attacks.

Bulgaria: Imam shortage forces 200 mosques to close

Bulgaria's highest Muslim authority has announced the closure of 200 mosques due to a lack of religious leaders or imams to lead prayers.
"Although the number of faithful has grown, we are forced to close the mosques due to a lack of religious leaders," said Bulgaria's Grand Mufti, Mustafa Haji.

"Many years of Communist rule and a lack of funds are the reasons for this crisis," he said.
Bulgaria has 1,500 mosques, but only 900 are currently open to the faithful and 200 of those are likely to be shut down indefinitely.
Bulgaria has 8.7 million inhabitants, of whom 12 percent are Muslim. The country joined the European Union in January last year.

Most Muslims in the country are Bulgarians of Turkish origin that have been living in the area since the time of Ottoman rule from the late 14th until the late 19th century.

Ground 'shook' as Somali militants attack peacekeepers

Medeshi 24 Sept, 2008
Islamist militants launched a massive assault on African Union peacekeepers in the Somali capital Wednesday, sparking battles that killed at least 17 civilians, according to witnesses and journalists in Mogadishu.
"The fighting was so heavy, it shook the ground under our feet," Somali cameraman Hassan Ahmed Hagi said. "Both sides were using heavy artillery -- including tanks used by the AU."
(Photo: Nurses attend a man wounded Tuesday in a mortar attack in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu. )
Dozens of civilians have been killed in Mogadishu this week after Al-Shaabab Islamic militia members doubled their attacks on AU forces following the militia's closure of the city's only airport, which also houses AU forces.
At least 33 civilians were killed in the crossfire of Monday's battles.
Watch aftermath of violence in Mogadishu »
Hagi described Wednesday's violence as the heaviest fighting he had ever witnessed between Al-Shaabab and AU forces.
The fighting started when Al-Shaabab fighters attacked K4 square, where AU peacekeepers from Uganda are stationed.
Heavy artillery struck a school near the square where civilians displaced by the violence were being sheltered. Four civilians were killed, according to a young woman at the shelter.

"We are fleeing this morning, using every transport available, including donkey carts," Nasteho Mohamed Abdi said. "I am so scared to venture out of the camp because AU forces are taking positions all over the area, but I have to leave."

Three people -- including a 6-year-old boy -- were shot dead by Somali government forces taking positions near K4 square, a local journalist said. An artillery shell killed a group of five people running for cover, the reporter said.

At least 24 people were wounded in the fighting and taken to Medina Hospital, a hospital official said.

Al-Shaabab is an Islamic militia that has launched a bloody battle to seize control of Somalia and oust Ethiopian troops, who are helping Somali government forces try to rout the Islamic fighters.

It is a splinter group of the Islamic Courts Union, which pushed out Somalia's transitional government in 2006. The ICU was deposed in December of that year following Ethiopia's military intervention.
Last week, Al-Shaabab warned all airlines to stop flying into Mogadishu's only airport or possibly face a military assault.
In its statement, Al-Shaabab said it shut down the airport because the facility is being used by "infidel forces," including those of Ethiopia, Burundi and Uganda. Burundi and Ugandan forces make up the bulk of the AU mission in Somalia.
Fighting in Mogadishu continues unabated more than three months after a United Nations-brokered peace deal was signed in the neighboring country of Djibouti by Somalia's transitional government and an alliance of armed opposition forces.
Somalia has been mired in chaos since 1991, when warlords overthrew dictator Mohamed Siad Barre, sparking brutal clan infighting. Somalia's transitional government is trying to maintain control of the capital, with the help of the better-equipped Ethiopian forces.
The lawlessness has extended to the country's waters, where international vessels are routinely hijacked by suspected Somali pirates who demand large ransom payments.
Ethiopia invaded Somalia in December 2006 to install the transitional government in Mogadishu after a decade and a half of near-anarchy. The invasion had the blessing of the United States, which accused Islamists of harboring fugitives from the al Qaeda terrorist movement.
But the Ethiopian troops quickly became embroiled in an insurgency led by the Islamists. As guerrilla attacks mounted, efforts to replace the Ethiopians with an African Union-led peacekeeping mission faltered. The conflict displaced hundreds of thousands of Somalis, further worsening a humanitarian crisis that dates back to the collapse of the country's last government in 1991.
The situation has been exacerbated by drought, continual armed conflicts in central and southern Somalia, and high inflation of food and fuel prices.
The peace agreement, signed June 9 in Djibouti, calls for a cease-fire between Somalia's U.N.-backed transitional government and the Alliance for the Re-liberation of Somalia. If followed, it would pave the way for a withdrawal of Ethiopian troops.
The agreement calls on the Alliance to disassociate itself from any armed groups still fighting the government and for all sides to allow "unhindered humanitarian access and assistance" to all Somalis. A joint committee led by U.N. officials has been appointed to monitor the agreement's implementation.

How should we observe Laylat al-Qadr and when is it?

How should we observe Laylat al-Qadr? Is it by praying, or by reading Qur’aan and the Prophet’s Seerah, listening to lectures and lessons and by celebrating it in the mosque?.
Praise be to Allaah.
Firstly:
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to strive hard in worship during the last ten days of Ramadaan as he never did at any other time, praying, reading Qur’aan and making du’aa’. Al-Bukhaari and Muslim narrated from ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) that when the last ten days of Ramadaan came, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) would stay up at night and would wake his family up, and would abstain from marital relations. Ahmad and Muslim narrated that he used to used to strive hard in worship during the last ten days of Ramadaan as he never did at any other time.

Secondly:
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) enjoined staying up and praying on Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and in the hope of reward. It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever stays up and prays on Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.” Agreed upon. This hadeeth indicates that it is prescribed to observe Laylat al-Qadr by spending the night in prayer.

Thirdly:
One of the best du’aa’s that may be recited on Laylat al-Qadr is that which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) taught to ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her). Al-Tirmidhi narrated, and classed the report as saheeh, that ‘Aa’ishah said: “I said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, if I know which night is Laylat al-Qadr, what should I say on that night?’ He said, ‘Say: Allaahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibb al-‘afwa fa’affu ‘anni (O Allaah, You are forgiving and You love forgiveness, so forgive me).”

Fourthly:
With regard to specifying which night of Ramadaan is Laylat al-Qadr, this needs specific evidence, but the odd-numbered nights during the last ten nights are more likely than others, and the night of the twenty-seventh is the most likely to be Laylat al-Qadr, because that is mentioned in the ahaadeeth.

Fifthly:
With regard to innovations, they are not permissible during Ramadaan or at other times. It was proven that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever innovates anything in this matter of ours that is not part of it will have it rejected.” According to another report, “Whoever does any action that is not part of this matter of ours will have it rejected.”
We know of no basis for the celebrations that are held during some nights of Ramadaan. The best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and the worst of matters are those which are innovated (bid’ah).
And Allaah is the Source of strength. May Allaah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.

An Interview With Mr. Harun Yahya By Suud1 TV

AN INTERVIEW WITH MR. HARUN YAHYA (ADNAN OKTAR) BY SUUD1 TV (April, 2008)

In his interview by Suud1 TV, one of the most renowned television channels of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Adnan Oktar replied the question inquiring the effect of his books all over the world, by stating that it is Allah doing and creating everything. He said that Allah had created His servants as a means. Mr.Adnan Oktar said "when the time comes Allah reveals the books that are already determined in destiny".

Mr.Adnan Oktar stated that Darwinism was used as an effective philosophical means to form the foundation of atheism for a long time. He declared the introduction of the actual state of the subterranean fossils to the humanity had been a giant blow on Darwinism. Mr. Adnan Oktar stated that all of the fossils excavated which are more than 100 million, had proved creation. He depicted that the skeletons of the animals which lived 300 million years ago were exactly the same with the contemporary ones.
Mr. Oktar said that the collapse of Darwinism had caused a great relief amongst the Muslims and that Islam had spread like an avalanche all through the world. He also referred to the effect of the mass distribution of his book, the Atlas of Creation, in France. Stating that atheism was widespread in France, he said that the distribution of the Atlas had caused a shocking effect on French people and that this was referred to as " the biggest calamity in the history of France, an earthquake, a tornado and also as the biggest offensive attack ever received in France" by their own words.
Mr. Adnan Oktar, after stating that he had been subjected to various forms of oppression and coercion just after he had published his book named "Freemasonry and Judaism", said that he had been kept in a mental hospital locked with aggressive and mentally deranged patients who have killed before for 10 months and also been imprisoned for 9 months but has never ever given up his intellectual struggle and that he would never do so.
Mr. Adnan Oktar stated that his sole aim is to gain the approval of Allah and he had concluded his interview with the following message he had sent to all the Muslims in the Arabian countries: "I want Muslims to love and be brothers to one another, with no discrimination between sects, or whether someone happens to be a Hanafi, Sunni, Shafii, or whatever. We believe in the same Allah, in the same prophet and face the same direction in prayer. We love the same prophets and the same angels, and our everything is more or less the same, so building walls and even enmity between us on the basis of minor details merely serves the interests of Shaytan.
There must be no such thing. We are all, inshaAllah, sincere Muslims, genuine brothers. And, inshaAllah, we will all be together in the hereafter. There is an auspicious side of such divisions as well. I believe it is totally wrong to make an issue out of them."

Ruling on watching movies and TV, and playing cards, during the day in Ramadaan

Praise be to Allaah.
Those who are fasting and other Muslims should fear Allaah with regard to what they do and what they refrain from doing at all times, and they should beware of that which Allaah has forbidden of watching indecent movies which show things which Allaah has forbidden, such as pictures of naked and semi-naked people and evil words; the same applies to things that appear on TV which go against the laws of Allaah, such as images, songs, musical instruments and misleading advertisements.

Every Muslim, whether he is fasting or not, should be beware of playing with cards, because of what that involves of witnessing evil and doing evil, and because it also leads to hard-heartedness, sickness in the heart and lack of respect for Allaah’s laws and finding what Allaah has made obligatory to be burdensome, such as praying in congregation and other obligatory duties, and falling into many haraam things. Allaah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing) to mislead (men) from the path of Allaah without knowledge, and takes it (the path of Allaah, or the Verses of the Qur’aan) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell‑fire).
7. And when Our Verses (of the Qur’aan) are recited to such a one, he turns away in pride, as if he heard them not — as if there were deafness in his ear. So announce to him a painful torment”
[Luqmaan 31:6-7]
And Allaah says in Soorat al-Furqaan, describing the slaves of the Most Merciful (interpretation of the meaning):
“And those who do not bear witness to falsehood, and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk, they pass by it with dignity”
[al-Furqaan 25:72].

Falsehood includes all kinds of evil, and what is meant by “[they] do not bear witness” is that they are not present. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There will be among my ummah people who regard adultery, silk, alcohol and music as permissible.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari in his Saheeh in a mu’allaq, majzoom report. What is meant by music is singing and musical instruments. Allaah has forbidden to the Muslims the means that cause them to fall into evil. Undoubtedly watching evil films and the evils that are shown on television are means that cause one to fall into evil or to become careless and not denounce it. And Allaah is the One whose help we seek. End quote.

Majmoo’ Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn Baaz (15/315).
These sins detract from the reward of fasting, and may erase it altogether.

UN WARNS IT MAY HALT FOOD AID TO PALESTINIANS DISPLACED FROM LEBANESE CAMP

UN WARNS IT MAY HALT FOOD AID TO PALESTINIANS DISPLACED FROM LEBANESE CAMP
New York, Sep 22 2008  7:10PM
The United Nations agency tasked with assisting Palestinian refugees warned today that a funding shortfall means it may soon have to stop distributing food to more than 3,000 families displaced by deadly violence at a camp in northern Lebanon last year.

Unless funds are found in the coming weeks, the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (<"http://www.un.org/unrwa/english.html">UNRWA) reported that it will have to cease food distributions to 3,100 families and also halt rental subsidies for about 27,000 people by the end of next month.

As many as 30,000 Palestinians were displaced – some for the third time in their lives – from Lebanon's Nahr el-Bared refugee camp last year amid heavy fighting between Lebanese Government forces and Fatah el-Islam gunmen.

UNRWA said in June that it needs about $445 million to rebuild Nahr el-Bared, which was devastated by the fighting.

The reconstruction of the camp would be the largest undertaking in the agency's history, and requires the building of a new town with houses, schools, health centres, mosques and other community facilities, as well as a UN compound and associated infrastructure.

KENYA'S LIVESTOCK A MULTI-BILLION SECTOR

Kenyan Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka on Saturday said the government will allocate 1.66 billion shillings emergency funds to fight the Peste De Petit Ruminant (PPR) disease that threatens the multi-billion dollar livestock industry.

The PPR outbreak which began in 2006 and has spread to 17 districts in the country has so far wiped out 2.5 million sheep and goats, putting the livelihood of millions of people in Arid and Semi areas of the country at risk. Musyoka said that the government will ensure that the PPR and other recurring disease outbreaks will be eradicated within the next five years.
"For us to export more meat products to better markets, we have to ensure that our meat is disease free," he said in Merti, Isiolo district during the launching of the second phase of the PPR control activities that will cover 59 districts in the northern, Central and Southern Rift, lower Eastern, Coast and North Eastern Provinces.
Musyoka noted that the Grand coalition government has put in place strategies to revamp the livestock industry through the sinking of boreholes for water, construction of dams, putting up slaughterhouses in various parts of the country as well as sourcing more export markets in Europe, Middle East and Seychelles. The plans also include the construction of an International

Airport at Isiolo to facilitate export and tourism arrivals.
The Vice President disclosed that policies and laws governing livestock development are also being revised to make them relevant to current realities. Musyoka noted that the government, through the Ministry of Livestock Development, will put in place appropriate and cost effective breeding technology in order to improve livestock species especially in the arid and semi arid areas, for higher productivity and better incomes.

The vice president said that livestock development is a crucial component in the government poverty eradication and wealth creation strategy adding . He added that the livestock industry is a multi-billion shilling sector, contributing about 12 percent to the national GDP and employs 50 percent of the agricultural labor force.

How can he rid himself of jealousy towards his brothers?

Q: To be a true beliver 1 quility is to love for your brother what u love for yourself. Al humdurilla this is easy to do with my blood brother, but very difficult to do this for any of my muslim brothers except a few , the reason being is that when i see my muslim brother better then me in anything i feel jealous, i thing it's pride(brother i make duaa to allah to forgive me for felling like this but when i see my muslim brother again, this feeling comes back again)

I want to fell happy seeing my muslim brother prosper and i want to fell sad when he's sad.but whenever i see people praising my muslim brother i fell jealous. I also fell like wanting for my muslim brother janatul ferdose but whenever my muslim brother tells me something which will benefit me for deen, i want to practice it but saythan comes and tell me that if i practice it then my muslim brother would get the same rewards as i would and so his stage will be higher then minein jannah, my nafs sometimes fall for this trap. i would like to knowhow i can get total cure from this problem.

Praise be to Allaah.
What every Muslim is obliged to do, as you mentioned, is to love for his brother what he loves for himself of good things, and to hate for his brother what he hates for himself of bad things. This does not mean that he cannot like for himself what he likes for others. If he sees that his brother has something that he does not, and he wishes that he had it too, this is ghibtah (envy that is free from malice); if he wishes that the blessing would be taken away from them, this is called hasad (destructive jealousy).
The Muslim needs to strive against his own self (jihaad al-nafs) so that his heart will be free of jealousy towards his Muslim brothers. If he sincerely loves his brothers, most of these problems from which he is suffering will disappear. When the Muslim realizes how great his virtue and status will be when he loves his brothers and loves good things for them, and when he knows how great his reward will be if he treats them well, this will motivate him to treat them well in all ways, and to strive to benefit his brothers instead of being preoccupied with jealous thoughts of what they have and he doesn’t.
Shaykh Muhammad al-Duwaysh.
You have to think long and hard about the words of Allaah (interpretation of the meaning):
“That is the Grace of Allaah which He bestows on whom He wills
[al-Maa’idah 5:54]
“It is We Who portion out between them their livelihood in this world, and We raised some of them above others in ranks, so that some may employ others in their work
[al-Zukhruf 43:32]

Hasad (destructive jealousy) causes a great deal of harm in this world and in the Hereafter. Al-Tirmidhi narrated from al-Zubayr ibn al-‘Awaam that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“There has come to you the disease of the nations before you, jealousy and hatred. This is the ‘shaver’ (destroyer); I do not say that it shaves hair, but that it shaves (destroys) faith. By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, you will not enter Paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another. Shall I not tell you of that which will strengthen love between you? Spread (the greeting of) salaam amongst yourselves.” (A hasan hadeeth. Jaami’ al-Tirmidhi, 2434).
Concerning the meaning of the phrase “it shaves (destroys) faith”, al-Tayyibi said: “i.e., hatred takes away faith like a razor takes away hair.” (Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi bi Sharh Jaami’ al-Tirmidhi).
It seems, my brother, that you know the ruling and are aware of the consequences, and that you want to rid yourself of this blameworthy characteristic. Here are some solutions for you.
1- Make du’aa’ (supplication) to Allaah and ask Him to rid you of this problem. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to say in his du’aa’, “Wa’hdi qalbi wa’slul sakheemata sadri (guide my heart and remove ill will from my breast).” The phrase “guide my heart” means to the straight path, and “remove ill will from my breast” means take away all insincerity, rancour and hatred.
2- Pondering the meanings of the Qur’aan and reading it frequently, especially the verses which speak of hasad (destructive jealousy), because reading the Qur’aan brings one a great deal of hasanaat (reward for good deeds). Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds
[Hood 11:114]
3- Reading the seerah (biography) of the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), seeing how he kept away from hasad and how he loved good for others, even for his enemies. Among the useful books on seerah is Noor al-Yaqeen fi Seerat Sayyid al-Mursaleen.
[Translator’s note: a well-known book of seerah which is available in English is “Al-Raheeq al-Makhtoom (the Sealed Nectar) – Biography of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), by Safi-ur-Rahmaan al-Mubarakpuri]
4- Reading the biographies and stories of the Sahaabah in books such as Suwar min Hayaat al-Sahaabah by ‘Abd al-Rahmaan Ra’fat al-Basha)
5- If any such thoughts (of hasad, etc.) cross your mind, then seek refuge with Allaah from the accursed Shaytaan, and keep yourself busy with something that will make you forget these insinuating whispers and thoughts.
6- If the Shaytaan manages to instil hasad in your heart, then beware lest you say or do anything which will show that hasad. Every person has his or her share of hasad. Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said: “Nobody is free from hasad, but the noble person hides it whilst the base person shows it.” (Amraad al-Quloob). A person will not be brought to account for whatever crosses his mind, but he will be brought to account for what he says and does. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah will forgive my ummah for their mistakes, what they forget and what they are forced to do.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 2033).
7- If you feel that you are jealous of a specific person, then buy him a gift and shake hands with him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Shake hands, for this will dispel rancour, and exchange gifts and love one another, for this will dispel hatred.” (Narrated by Maalik in al-Muwatta’, 1413). Hasad is the result of hatred, whose opposite is love, the way of which is giving gifts and spreading (the greeting of) salaam, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “You will not enter Paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another. Shall I not tell you of that which will strengthen love between you? Spread (the greeting of) salaam amongst yourselves.” (Narrated by Muslim, 81).

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said in his book Amraad al-Quloob (diseases of the heart):
“Whoever find in himself any hasad towards another has to try to neutralize it by means of taqwa (piety, consciousness of Allaah) and sabr (patience). So he should hate that (the feeling of hasad) in himself… But the one who does wrong to his brother by word or deed will be punished for that. The one who fears Allaah and is patient, however, is not included among the wrongdoers, and Allaah will benefit him by his taqwa.”
And Allaah knows best.

Advise of a mother to her daughter

This was posted by Brother Ishaq Izzy. Very nice advise to those who are about to be married and this is also adoptable to married women...

'O my daughter, if it were deemed unnecessary to give you this advice because of good manners and noble descent, then it would have been unnecessary for you, because you posses these qualities, but it will serve as a reminder to those who are forgetful, and will help those who are wise.

'O my daughter, if a woman were able to do without a husband by virtue of her father's wealth and her need for her father, then you of all people would be most able to do without a husband, but women were created for men just as men were created for them.

'O my daughter, you are about to leave the home in which you grew up, where you first learned to walk, to go to a place you do not know, to a companion to whom you are unfamiliar. By marrying you, he has become a master over you, so be like a servant to him, and he will become like a servant to you.

'Take from me ten qualities, which will be a provision and a reminder for you.

'The first and second of them are: be content in his company, and listen to and obey him, for contentment brings peace of mind, and listening to and obeying one's husband pleases Allah.

'The third and fourth of them are: make sure that you smell good and look good; he should not see anything ugly in you, and he should not smell anything but a pleasant smell from you. Kohl is the best kind of beautification to be found, and water is better than the rarest perfume.

'The fifth and sixth of them are: prepare his food on time, and keep quiet when he is asleep, for raging hunger is like a burning flame, and disturbing his sleep will make him angry.

'The seventh and eight of them are: take care of his servants (or employees) and children, and take care of his wealth, for taking care of his wealth shows that you appreciate him, and taking care of his children and servants shows good management.

'Know, O my daughter, that you will not achieve what you would like to until you put his pleasure before your own, and his wishes before yours, in whatever you like and dislike. And may Allah choose what is best for you and protect you." (Jamharah Khutah al-'Arab, 1/145)

'Be careful, O my daughter, of showing joy in front of him when he is upset, and do not show sorrow in front of him when he is happy, because the former shows a lack of judgment whilst the latter will make him unhappy.

'Show him as much honour and respect as you can, and agree with him as much as you can, so that he will enjoy your companionship and conversation.

'The ninth and tenth of them are: never disclose any of his secrets, and never disobey any of his orders, for if you disclose any of his secrets you will never feel safe from his possible betrayal, and if you disobey him, his heart will be filled with hatred towards you.
