Vacancy Announcement: Senior Communications and Community Outreach Officer


The USAID-funded Partnership for Economic Growth program is seeking applications from qualified nationals for the position of Senior Communications and Community Outreach Officer
.

The Senior Communications and Community Outreach Officer (SCCO) will be responsible for implementing the Communications Strategy and Branding and Marking Plans, which includes, developing publications, reports and communications materials as well as community outreach materials for the program beneficiaries. Publications and reports include weekly sit-reps and contract deliverables, such as quarterly and annual reports as well as special reports, success stories and materials detailing program activities. The SCCO will work with USAID, as needed, to prepare information materials for approved media campaigns or public education campaigns relating to project successes to beneficiaries and project partners. All Partnership reporting and communications products will be under the CCO Officer's supervision, including customizing templates and ensuring consistent branding for program materials.

Duties:

1) Implementation of the Communications Strategy and Branding and Marking Plans;

2) Provide guidance on the inclusion of appropriate communication and outreach information and monitoring indicators during the development of sub-activities scopes of work;

3) Produce high-quality communication materials outlining program progress, including success stories, brochures, interviews and other publications and facilitate their distribution;

4) Develop/implement community outreach strategies involving the use of radio, TV, print, as well as SMS and social networking media, and produce outreach materials;

5) Help pull together all required program reports including weekly sit-reps, quarterly reports and other documents as needed by USAID;

6) Facilitate information preparation for visits of delegations to the Partnership program;

7) Liaise with local authorities and related donor programs to maximize coordination and increase the Partnership's visibility, under the Program Manager's direction;

8) Ensure program results are appropriately communicated among the local communities to help spread positive news while maintaining program integrity and adhering to security guidelines;

9) Monitor press coverage of the Partnership efforts and author letters to the editor and op-ed pieces about the program's successes, as approved by USAID;

10) Represent the Partnership at large scale events and meetings and help coordinate such events, as required; and

11) Any other duties as required.

Duty Station and Reporting: Hargeisa, Somaliland; with travel to Puntland; Reporting/Supervision:Reports to the Program Manager but will initially work under the Partnership's Communications Specialist

Period of Performance: 24 months

Required skills:


University degree in a communication or related field

5 years experience working in communications/outreach/media relations or related field for an international organization;

Fluency in English and Somali, with excellent writing and speaking skills

Advanced IT skills, including knowledge of publications software;

Proven experience in using social media, video and photography

Proven experience in relations with the press/mass media and community outreach
