Syria Live Blog | Al Jazeera Blogs: "In Aleppo, an activist told Al Jazeera three opposition demonstrations had taken place, the largest of which saw some 4,000 protestors gather in the Sakhour neighbourhood to call for the downfall of the Assad dictatorship.
The activist, known only as Abu Mustafa, 40, described provocative behaviour by security forces deployed around a mosque in Aleppo, who he said were eating and smoking in defiance of the ban on consumption during daylight hours during Ramadan.
'There were large numbers of security men around the Amnah Mosque in the Seif ad-Dolah neighbourhood. The security men arrested many people just after they left the mosque to prevent them from demonstrating. The shabiha, who are mostly criminals recently released from jail, were standing around the mosque eating, drinking and smoking to make the worshippers angry.'"
