Prince Waleed Bin Talal donates 7.5 million Riyals in his visit to the victims of Somalia's poverty
His Royal Highness Prince Waleed Bin Talal Bin Abdelaziz Al Saud, president of Waleed Bin Talal Charity Establishment, and his wife her Highness Princess Amera Al Tawel the vice president, visited Somalia before yesterday Saturday the 27th of Ramadan 1432 H, where he met his Excellency President Shaikh Sharef Ahmad, president of Somalia, the Parliament president Sharef Hasah Shaikh Ahmad and the Somali Prime Minister Al Sayed Abdulwahab Ogasy. The visit of Prince Waleed Bin Talal comes as a support with the Somali citizens that are experiencing poverty because of the worst drought since more than half a century. Moreover, Prince Waleed Bin Talal donated an extra 7,500,000 million Riyals (2 million dollars) through Waleed Bin Talal Charity Establishment to the victims of the poverty in cooperation with the United Nations and the Islamic Cooperation Organization.
The extra donation of Waleed Bin Talal Charity Establishment of 3.75 million Riyals (million dollars) for the Islamic Cooperation Organization campaign that is supervised by the administration of human affairs, and 3.75 (million dollars) for the United Nations' Common Humanitarian Fund CHF, which is the responsible authority of distributing material aids and supporting the local and international rescuing organizations that provide long term programs.
Prince Waleed donated previously through Waleed Bin Talal Charity Establishment an amount of 5 million Saudi Riyals for the Saudi National Campaign for Rescuing Somalia, which was launched on the evening of last Monday by a direction of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. Dr. Sheikh Ali Al Nashwan, member of secretary council, announced the donation of Waleed Bin Talal Charity Establishment live.
Moreover, Prince Waleed Bin Talal recently received in his office in Riyadh his Excellency Ambassador of Somalia in the Saudi Kingdom Mr. Ahmad Abdulla Mohammad and vice-consul Mr. Abshar Worsama Deshra, who explained for his Highness the hard situation that Somalia is facing because of the poverty and the suffering of the Somali citizens and the victim numbers. He also clarified the Somalis need for immediate human aids and the Somali embassy's willingness to provide all what it can to cooperate with Waleed Bin Talal Charity Establishment. Dr. Nahla Al Anber, the Executie Assistant of his Highness president of Board of Directors attended the meeting.
On the other hand, Princess Amera Al Tawel received in her office in the headquarters of Waleed Bin Talal Charity Establishment in Riyadh the Somali Ambassador that explained for her Highness the effect of the poverty on the Somali citizens, and it causing in killing victims, agricultural crops and cattle. He also showed a number of ideas to support and provide aid through the cooperation with authorities such as the Somali Red Crescent. From her side, Princess Amera stressed that the establishment will provide its support for the victims of the poverty in any possible way.
